Blow me away

MK was asking me why I'm always flipping off people in my pictures. I told her that it's simply my pose, but for the last few months I have been trying to switch my picture pose to a little something like this:

Lets see if I can stick to it.

CD's

The Honorary Title will be playing 2 CMJ showcases in NYC in September and one other show. I think I'll be attending the show on the 16th at the Living Room. Their new CD "Anything Else But The Truth" is pretty amazing. Imagine the country twang of Bright Eyes mixed with the emotional and punk style of Dashboard Confessional. Their latest single "Everything I Once Had" shows the tortured soul of the band. Listen and love it.

An honorable mention to these other two albums I picked up: Ted/Leo Pharmacists "Shake The Sheets." Check out their latest single "Me and Mia."

Notwist "Neon Gold." Imagine Sigur Ros and Mum mixed together. Check out "Consequence." Next month they will be playing a show at Irving Plaza if anyone is truly interested.

CBGB

CBGB's is the last historic punk venue in New York City that is now threatened of being closed. Last night Thursday played a benefit show to raise money to keep the venue open and those that were lucky to experience it, have witnessed one of the most amazing experiences ever to be had in a lifetime. Over my entire life, my love for music has broadened and become so passionate that my love of it has leaked through my fingers onto paper. It has become my main influence as a writer and a person. I have always loved music as much as I have loved any person in the world and it may be the only thing that has loved me back unconditionally. Last night was beyond words.

CBGB has been a tremendous influence over the rock world over the last 40 years and should be protected by New York City. I just can't imagine the rock world and NYC without it.

I got to meet one of my idols, Geoff (seen here with me, the lead singer of Thursday) and was almost at a loss for words:

Me: It's a pleasure to meet you.
Geoff: You too.
Me: Hey, I've got you guys' tatted on my stomach.
Geoff: Are you serious?
Me: (Lifting up shirt) Yea, man.
Geoff: That's awesome.
Me: Good luck tonight!
Geoff: Thanks!

1/5 of my music dream has been completed.

These are my people and I felt one with them as the place erupted. I even ran into my boy Colin, who I haven't seen since I got my Thursday tattoo over a year ago.

I nearly fainted twice during the show because of dehydration and the pressure of the crowd, but it was worth every second of it. The way Thursday was able to draw the emotion out of me and the rest of the crowd tells bounds about them. They are by far the best live act I have ever seen and last night was one of the greatest moments of my entire life. Even through the hardest of times, Thursday, and music in general, seem to be the only thing that take me out of the slump. All the pain, loneliness and heart break that I feel secreted from my bones last night, through every pore in my body out into the CBGB environment. The moment is over, but I will never forget this. They made me realize how important music really is to me and kick-started my love for it again. I thank them with all my heart.

Welcome to New York City
